Integrate picasa, flickr and more services into our trip-app

Our gallery is cool. But its development is already limited. We surely won't be able to keep up with other photo management software out there. Instead, a simple integration of leading webservices in this field should be aimed. Picasa and Flickr are maybe the most important ones out there. What I would like to see:

• an option to choose to link a photo album from picasa or flickr to our trips / or blog-entries. Either by just pasting the gallery's URL or by using the API of the service and select the gallery from a list (preferred)
• thumbnails of recent images of the integrated photo album displayed in the detailed list-view/ detailed blog-entry-view
• maybe a way to create a new album in flickr/picase right from BeWelcome and link it to our trip. That is possible using the APIs...

Maybe it would make even more sense if we extend our gallery with these features. Like this, we wouldn't need to care a lot in the trip/blog apps themselves and make use of the API-integration at other places (groups, forums, etc.). How to do this for example:

• add an option in the gallery to create "virtual photo albums". These would list and show pictures from the said services as if they would be stored at BeWelcome
• The DB would need to be extended slightly (add a field to the gallery-table that says which service a certain album uses)
• The Gallery model would need some parts of phpflickr or similar code and instead of loading pictures from our filesystem look them up on flickr/picasa

I don't see that this will come.
